Lunch Bunch visits Sound Shore to decorate, sing holiday songs

SOUND SHORE MEDICAL CENTER — The  Colonial School Lunch Bunch visited here on Dec. 7 to decorate the tree, eat cookies, sip hot chocolate and sing holiday songs.

The Lunch Bunch is a group of Colonial School students in fourth and fifth grade who do projects. “Rudolph the Red-nosed Reindeer,” “The Dreidel Song,” “Jingle Bell Rock,” “Santa Claus Is Coming to Town” and “Oh Christmas Tree” were a few songs the Lunch Bunch sang.The director of Sound Shore said, “This event is a way to bring the community and hospital together.”

Residents applauded as the Lunch Bunch sang. Rosie, a resident, exclaimed, “These kids are fantastic!”

“I think it is absolutely wonderful because it makes the residents feel happy when they are away from home,” said Jean Bartley, a nurse.

The students also enjoyed the visit:

• “It makes people happy when the holidays are near,” said Addie Howey (5U).
• “The singing was fun and the cookies were tasty,” said Julia Rosenberg (4C).
• “People get lonely here, and they enjoy and feel happy when they have company,” said Ani Feinberg (4M).
