Pelham hockey players rewarded at annual dinner

The Pelham Hockey Association held its annual dinner at Lake Isle Country Club on March 31 for players and their families.

EASTCHESTER -- The Pelham Hockey Association held its annual dinner at Lake Isle Country Club on March 31 for players and their families.

There were two rooms, the Fairway Room for clinic to squirt players, and the Crystal Room for pee-wee to varsity players. There was a table to buy 50/50 raffle tickets, a yearbook and Pelham Hockey items.

In the Crystal Room, the MVP award went to goalie A.J. Gugliara for the Pelham Pee-Wee Penguins. The coach’s award went to Timmy Reilly, also of the Pee-Wee Penguins. Both awards were given by Head Coach Geoff Dodge.

The Amy O’Doherty Award for female player who has shown great participation was given to a member of the Pee-Wee Predators, Katie Sciales. The Joe Shea Award, given to a youth player who has demonstrated exceptional leadership and sportsmanship on and off ice, went to the late Joe Shea’s son, varsity player Danny Shea.

Each player in the Crystal Room received a mini backpack that said “Pelham Hockey” on it. Each player in the Fairway Room got a trophy.

The food at the dinner was a salad to start, chicken Parmesan with baked ziti for entree and for dessert, an ice-cream sundae.
