Students encouraged to spread word about Nov. 3 blood drive

COLONIAL SCHOOL — Colonial parent Louise Kelly and Tina Rivera from the New York Blood Center are running the blood drive this year and came to school to encourage kids to spread the word.

This is important because there are millions of people in the world who need blood. The blood drive will be held in the gym of Colonial School from 3 to 8 p.m. on Nov. 3.

O- and O+ blood types are especially needed, so Ms Rivera and Mrs. Kelly, who is chairing the drive, encouraged people with those types to donate.

“You have to have a piece of I.D. to donate blood,” Ms Rivera warned the students.

There are other blood types that Mrs. Kelly and Ms Rivera want people to donate, types like A-, A+, B-, B+, AB- and AB+. Fourth and fifth graders are helping with the blood drive.
