Hollywood Masterpieces of the 1940’s: Double Indemnity

Wesleyan film professor, Scott Higgins is teaching a series of classes on Hollywood masterpieces of the 1940's on Wednesdays, 6-9 p.m., June 15 - July 20.

This series will delve into the art and history of "classical Hollywood cinema," focusing on major filmmakers, genres, and styles from "the height of the studio era."

Films to be shown and discussed include: Casablanca, Citizen Kane, Meet me in St. Louis, Double Indemnity, My Darling Clementine, and The Best Years Of Our Lives.

Session Four: Film Noir: The Dark Side of Hollywood

Topics include: Film Noir as a Style, Developments in Lighting and Composition, The Production Code, Billy Wilder’s Wit and Vision. Film: Double Indemnity
