GLOVER FIELD -- All the fifth graders of the Pelham elementary schools headed June 5 to this field to have a full day of games.

Field day is a day where a group of kids (could be a school, could be a class, could be a grade) from a school go to a field to play fun games such as sack races or a small version of the shot put. You could say that this is a day to play outside games with your friends, but it is more then that.

All the elementary schools went together on the same day to the same field at the same time. This was a day to also get to know some of the other kids that will be in the Colonial fifth graders’ classes next year in the Pelham Middle School. The teams mixed students from all four schools, so people weren’t necessarily in a group of people where they knew everyone.

In an interview before field day, Rowan Proffitt (5V) said, “I am excited about it because I want to meet people from other schools.”

Tisya Sharma (5V) said, “I am definitely excited because I love the outdoors and doing other fun activities that are in nature. And I think we will get to know people from the other schools too.”
