Flash Flood Warning Issued for Lower Westchester

The National Weather Service says heavy rainfall is headed our way.

The National Weather Service has issued a Flash Flood Warning for, among other places, Southern Westchester County. It is in effect until 8 p.m. Monday night.

According to the NWS, Doppler Radar indicated a large area of showers and thunderstorms producing heavy rain that are approaching the area.

Flash Flooding is expected to begin before 6 p.m. across portions of the area. Rainfall rates of 1-2 inches per hour are possible with localized higher amounts.

Among the specific locations the NWS warned about flooding around Yonkers and New Rochelle.

A thunderstorm watch had been issued for the lower Hudson Valley Monday and a Warning was issued for Central Westchester.

The National Weather Service said the watch went into effect at 12:45 p.m. and will be in effect until 8 p.m.

The watch is in effect for Dutchess, Orange, Putnam, Rockland, Sullivan, Ulster and Westchester counties.
