COLONIAL CLASSROOMS — Colonial parent Eileen Miller started a book club for fourth grade girls. The first meeting happened on Dec. 13. Mrs. Miller chose a wonderful book called Emma-Jean Lazarus Fell Out of a Tree.
It is about a girl who is different from all the other kids, and her relationship with a girl named Colleen. They become friends, and Emma-Jean goes through a lot of adventures throughout the book.
"I chose this book because it had to do with girls and friendship, and I thought that the girls would like to read a book they could relate to," said Mrs. Miller. A lot of girls seemed to like meeting together. This reporter was there and thought it was wonderful.

While meeting with everyone, the students talked about many things, like which character they would rather be, what they thought of the book in general and more.
"I liked talking about Emma-Jean's personality best because there are a lot of things about her I like," said Tisya Sharma (4M). "For instance, she knows how to handle complex situations and she believes anything could be possible through a process of creative thinking. I would like to have more club sessions in the future. Thanks to Mrs. Miller for taking this initiative."
