Glover Field Turf Installation Underway

The track is closed for the summer due to construction of the field

The installation of artificial turf at the Glover Field Complex is underway and according to a release from the Pelham Union Free School District the project will impact access and use of fields during summer months as follows:

  • Access to the tennis courts and Friendship Field is via the Secor Lane entrance only with all parking at Imperia Hill.
  • The track is closed for the summer due to construction of the field. Residents are asked to observe the closing for their own safety.
  • Parking is limited.  It is strongly suggested to walk, bike or car pool.
School Board member and chair of the Buildings and Grounds Committee, Will Cavanagh, updated the Board and public at the June 17 meeting, according to the release, adding that the field may be open some time in August.

The Friends of Pelham Sports, the 501(c)(3) formed by Pelham residents to improve sports and recreational facilities in the Town of Pelham, raised approximately $1.3 million for the turf field.

Glover Field is used for a variety of school and recreation sports.  Earlier this month the American Cancer Society held its Relay for Life fundraiser on the field.
