Hazardous Outlook Issued: Pelham's Work Week Weather

PELHAM, NY — Looks as if the unsettled weather will continue. There's even been a Hazardous Weather outlook issued. Monday's not bad, but then it all goes downhill.

"There are a few light sprinkles appearing in the southern Catskills," said the guys at Hudson Valley Weather, "but the vast majority of the valley will remain dry to start the week."

Still, the National Weather Service already warns for Orange, Putnam, Rockland and Westchester:

There is the possibility of severe thunderstorms Tuesday afternoon and evening, with the main threat damaging wind gusts and large hail. In addition, locally heavy rainfall is possible with any stronger convection. While the main threat is for minor flooding of urban and poor drainage areas, there is a small chance for localized flash flooding.

And it's not just going to be Tuesday. It's going to be like that for a while.

"After a relatively warm and dry start to the month of May, the pattern has become much more humid and wet heading into the middle of the month across the Northeast," AccuWeather Senior Meteorologist Dan Pydynowski said.

Here's what the NWS predicts for southern Westchester:

• Today: Partly sunny, with a high near 70. Calm wind becoming southwest around 6 mph in the afternoon.
• Tonight: A 30 percent chance of showers, mainly after 5am. Patchy fog after 2am. Otherwise, mostly cloudy, with a low around 58. South wind 3 to 6 mph.
• Tuesday: A chance of showers, with thunderstorms also possible after 1pm. Patchy fog before 10am. Otherwise, mostly cloudy, with a high near 84. Light south wind becoming southwest 5 to 10 mph in the morning. Chance of precipitation is 40%.
• Tuesday Night: Showers likely and possibly a thunderstorm before midnight, then a chance of showers. Some of the storms could produce gusty winds and heavy rain. Cloudy, with a low around 59. West wind 5 to 7 mph becoming north in the evening. Chance of precipitation is 70%. New precipitation amounts between a half and three quarters of an inch possible.
• Wednesday: A 30 percent chance of showers. Cloudy, with a high near 68. East wind around 7 mph.
• Wednesday Night: Mostly cloudy, with a low around 56.
• Thursday: Mostly cloudy, with a high near 75.
• Thursday Night: Mostly cloudy, with a low around 56.
• Friday: A 50 percent chance of showers after 7am. Cloudy, with a high near 65.
• Friday Night: A 50 percent chance of showers. Cloudy, with a low around 55.
