Rye's Helping Hands for the Homeless & Hungry needs donations of back to school supplies.

Rye’s Helping Hands for the Homeless & Hungry, a volunteer organization, provides dozens of homeless children in Westchester County with free backpacks filled with school supplies and they are in need of donations.

Helping Hands for the Homeless and Hungry is organizing a collection to help needy children get ready for the fall school year with back to school supplies.

Save the date for their 2014 “Mission Backpack”

~Monday, August 18: 10:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.

~Tuesday, August 19: 10:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.

Donations needed are as follows:

~Gift cards of $25: This will provide a backpack filled with a scientific calculator, notebooks, binders, pencils and index cards

~Gift cards of $50: This will cover the cost of art supplies for 20 children, drawing paper, crayons and glue sticks

~Gift cards of $75: This will buy eight scientific calculators

~Gift cards of $100: This will provide a family of 4 children with school ready backpacks
