UPDATE: Teen Dead in Hit-and-Run on the Saw Mill River Parkway
Westchester County police ask anyone with info about the 3AM crash to call.

UPDATE: A 18-year-old who was trying to change a tire on the Saw Mill River Parkway around 3 a.m. Monday died after being hit by a car, according to news reports.
Zachary Dunn of Yonkers was the driver of a car that had broken down on parkway.
The identities of the people in the Acura that rear-ended him — who then abandoned their car, jumped into another one and drove away — are being sought.

ORIGINAL REPORT: The Westchester County Police are investigating a serious hit-and-run accident that occurred earlier Monday morning on the Saw Mill River Parkway in Yonkers that critically injured an 18-year-old motorist.

The parkway was closed northbound between the NYC line and Exit 4 for several hours Monday morning for the investigation. It was cleared by 10:30 a.m., state transportation officials said.
The accident occurred about 2:50 a.m. Monday on the northbound Saw Mill River Parkway near McLean Avenue in Yonkers. Police said a vehicle that had broken down and was stopped in the roadway was rear-ended by an Acura TSX.
The occupants of the Acura got into a third vehicle, abandoning the Acura and fleeing the scene, police said.
The driver of the stopped vehicle was seriously injured and was taken by ambulance to Jacobi Medical Center in the Bronx, where he is in critical condition. A passenger in his vehicle was taken to St. Joseph’s Medical Center in Yonkers with non-life-threatening injuries, police said.
The circumstances of the crash and the identities of those involved in leaving the scene remain under investigation.
