Leader Training Available for Pelham Small Businesses

The application deadline is Feb. 28 for the federal SBA program about growing a company: VIDEO

Small businesses in the lower Hudson Valley have a chance to participate in the 2016 Emerging Leaders training series, run by the U.S. Small Business Administration.

The deadline for applying for the free training is Sunday, Feb. 28, with classes to begin in April.

Emerging Leaders education series provides small business owners the opportunity to work with experienced mentors, attend workshops and develop connections with peers, city officials and financial communities.

New York District Director Beth Goldberg said 12 entrepreneurs were trained in 2015 in such industries as security, fuel, food and beverage and construction.

“Our goal this year is to assist many more small businesses as they develop short-term and long-term strategies to grow their companies, create jobs and continue investing in our economy,” she said.

According to information on the Small Business Administration website, the training is not for start-ups or people who are thinking about starting a business.

To qualify, businesses must have annual revenues of at least $400,000, have been in business for at least three years and have at least one employee other than the business owner.

There are no restrictions on the type of businesses that can participate in the program.
