Letter To The Editor: Thanks For Hutchinson Bond Vote

The writers are the staff of the Hutchinson School.

To the Editor, an open letter to the members of the Pelham School District Community:

We, the staff of Hutchinson Elementary School, write to express our sincere gratitude for the support you have shown us, our students and our families throughout the eight-month process that culminated in the passage, on Tuesday, May 15th, of two bonds, dedicated primarily to funding the construction of a new Hutchinson Elementary School building.

The school board labored for months to determine the most responsible course to ensure the safety and security of the Hutchinson community, and since that time worked tirelessly with our superintendent, Dr. Cheryl Champ--our “champ”, indeed--the Bond Steering Committee, our building principal, Trisha Fitzgerald, and others to educate the citizens of Pelham as to the bonds’ goals.

The overwhelmingly positive support for us at Hutchinson shown by the poll numbers on Tuesday, May 15th has touched us so. We are enormously grateful for this opportunity to participate in the construction of a 21st century building in a district committed to 21st century learning.

We have never been more proud to be Pelicans!
