Lights on Ice Chanukah Celebration
5 foot Ice Menorah to be carved at Community Chanukah Celebration at Pelham Art Center

The weather is getting colder, the days are getting shorter and Chanukah is just around the corner. With the holiday fast-approaching, Chabad of Pelham invites you to a number of fun-filled family events to celebrate the annual Jewish holiday.
Join us for “Lights On Ice’, a mega celebration at The Pelham Art Center on the first night of chanukah, Sunday 6, September, where we’ll light a 5ft menorah—carved entirely from ice! From 3:30pm watch celebrated sculptor, Mark Mckenzie, expertly carve the menorah on the spot from one block of ice, then join us for delicious chanukah foods (doughnuts, latkes, chocolate gelt!), chanukah crafts, and dreidel games followed by the grand menorah lighting ceremony at 4:30pm.
In the true spirit of the holiday, help us spread the message of charitable giving. Bring your extra winter hats, gloves, & scarves to be donated to the needy.

Chanukah—the Jewish festival of lights—is celebrated over 8 nights every fall to commemorate a series of miracles that occurred in Ancient Israel. It salutes the victory of a small band of faithful Jews who defeated the Seleucid army—the most powerful military at the time—which sought to impose Helenic culture on them. It also commemorates the rededication of the Temple and the miraculous burning of the menorah for 8-days long.
“The menorah candelabra has now become a ubiquitous symbol of light—of the triumph of light over darkness, and freedom over oppression. We look forward to celebrating in a unique, family-fun way with the first ice-menorah to come to Pelham.” Rabbi Levi Groner, director of Chabad of Pelham said.
