Livery Cab Robber, Kidnapper Sentenced

Robert Mizell, 28, of the Bronx was sentenced to 18 years in prison in connection with a2013 robbery and kidnapping of a livery cab driver that ended in Tarrytown.

Mizell robbed the victim at gunpoint and forced him into the trunk of the cab, where he was able to eventually escape.

Westchester County District Attorney Janet DiFiore announced today that Robert Mizell (DOB 05/08/86) of 609 Beach Avenue, Bronx, New York was sentenced to 18 years in prison on his August 2014 guilty plea to:

• one count of Kidnapping in the Second Degree, a class “B” Felony,
• one count of Robbery in the First Degree, a class “B” Felony,
• one count of Criminal Possession of Weapon in the Second Degree, a class “C” Felony,
• one count of Assault in the Second Degree, a class “D” Felony,

relating to the abduction and robbery of car service driver Aneudy Lendoff.

“Car service drivers face many challenges in a day’s work but being robbed, abducted and held at gunpoint should not be one of them. Due to the quick thinking by the victim, he was able escape, ultimately leading to the arrest of the defendant,” said District Attorney Janet DiFiore.

On September 19th, 2013, at approximately 10:45 a.m. the defendant entered the DAT car service at 650 Sound Shore Avenue in the Bronx requesting a cab to take him to 142nd Street and Amsterdam Avenue in Manhattan.

Once in the vehicle, the defendant pulled out a .38 caliber revolver pointed it at the victim and said “we are now going to Albany.”

The defendant ordered the victim to disable the video camera in the livery car and then, at gunpoint, ordered the victim to give him his cell phone and money. The victim gave the defendant his I-Phone and $125.00 in cash.

The defendant then told the victim to pull off at exit #23 on the Saw Mill River Parkway in the Town of Greenburgh and pulled into a parking lot forcing the victim at gunpoint into the trunk of his cab.

After driving around, in the vicinity of Nepperhan Road and Tower Hill Road, in Tarrytown, the victim was able to unlatch the trunk and jumped out of the moving vehicle fracturing his ankle.

He was then able to contact Tarrytown police who found the defendant driving the victim’s livery cab and in possession of the victim’s cash, and I-phone.

It was later determined that the defendant was a state parole absconder and on Federal parole.

Senior Assistant District Attorney Lana Hochheiser of the Career Criminal Bureau prosecuted the case.
