MAD Cafe Celebrates Mardi Gras with a Festive Menu

Patch stopped by MAD Cafe for dinner last night to see how locals celebrate the holiday of beads, masks, color and jambalaya.

Mardi Gras hit on Tuesday night when customers were treated to a prix-fixe menu with all the festive Louisiana trappings.

Diners started pouring in at 7 p.m. and forked over $35 for such dishes as shrimp and grits, Cajun nuts, chicken and andouille jambalaya and king cake. While licking their plates clean, customers enjoyed the traditional sounds of the Tessera String Band.

“We are so happy that this place is here now in Pelham. A place to just meet friends or just to have coffee," said Kathi Mangas. "We wanted to come by tonight because it’s Mardi Gras and it’s a good band."

“Denise Amorelli [the owner of MAD Cafe] has made this the most fun place in Pelham," said Spencer Hayman of the Tessera String Band. "We play music you want to hear.”
