Pelham Art Center Names New Executive Director

From the Pelham Art Center: The Board of Directors of Pelham Art Center is pleased to announce that Charlotte Mouquin will succeed Lynn Honeysett as the new Executive Director of the Pelham Art Center. Ms. Honeysett is retiring March 2nd.

Charlotte Mouquin (Voznesenskaya) is known as a curator and artist. She was the Director of Rush Arts Galleries of Rush Philanthropic Arts Foundation for seven years. Originally from Rockland County, NY, Ms. Mouquin has been living and working in Brooklyn for the past nine years. Her goal is enhancing community through art experiences that highlight our humanity as global citizens. Her degrees include a MA in Contemporary Art from Sotheby’s Institute of Art, a BFA from Parsons School of Design, a MAT from the School of the Museum of Fine Arts Boston/Tufts University. She has curated at Rush Arts Gallery, Corridor Gallery, Sensei Gallery, Field Projects, CultureFix Gallery, Clover’s Fine Art Gallery, The Living Gallery, and has hosted art salons in private homes. Mouquin has presented art with art fairs in NY and Miami including: Volta, Scope, Pulse, Prizm, Fountain, Flux, Figment, and Select. She has been a guest judge, curator and educator at Curate NYC, the Bombay Sapphire Artisan Series, and Art Slant NYC and The Love Yourself Project.

Pelham Art Center Board Chair Brian Bober, who also led the Board Search Committee, said, “Charlotte has fully embraced the Pelham Art Center and is incredibly excited about this opportunity. I can say I'm equally excited and confident about her ability to lead the Art Center going forward.” The Search Committee included Sona Davidian, Katy Garry, Kate Pringle, Jill Orlando, and Lynn Honeysett. Ms. Mouquin will officially begin February 26th.

It is a true honor to lead this community art space into the future,” said Ms. Mouquin. “The Pelham Art Center resonates strongly with my principles about bringing art to the public, being a place to engage and educate people about art, and have diverse people and cultures coming together. Art enhances lives by teaching nonlinear thinking and opening up roads to cultivating new ideas in all cross-curricular activities.” Ms. Mouquin and her family plan to move to the area in the near future.

“Charlotte has the passion, the arts expertise and drive to provide Westchester and beyond with innovative and engaging arts experiences,” said Lynn Honeysett. “I’m so excited to see Pelham Art Center in the hands of such able leadership.”

During her seven years as ED, Ms. Honeysett, working with a creative, dedicated staff, artists, instructors and Board, doubled Pelham Art Center’s free, open to the public cultural art-making workshops and performances. A public art program of sculpture and installation exhibitions was initiated on site at PAC, then expanded to Pelham’s Wolfs Lane Park. Ms. Honeysett also brought New Rochelle’s ArtsFest to Pelham as an expanded two-town, two-day free celebration of the arts and grew arts and technology opportunities for students.

Pelham Art Center is a nonprofit educational and cultural institution committed to providing public access to see, study and experience the arts, foster lifelong arts appreciation and thereby strengthen the community. The Art Center was founded in 1970 and now serves more than 16,000 people each year.
