Pelham to Hold Two 9/11 Ceremonies for the 15th Anniversary of the Attacks

A candlelight vigil is meant particularly for families and those who weren't alive in 2001.

Commemorating the 15 Anniversary of 9/11, the Town of Pelham will hold two memorial ceremonies on Sunday.

Starting at 8:30 AM, the first ceremony will take place at the 9/11 Memorial on Harmon Avenue just off Fifth Avenue near Pelham Gazebo Park. The ceremony will include the two National Moments of Silence, the reading of the names of the Pelhamites who lost their lives, wreath laying and flowers placed on the Memorial Benches by the Pelham Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts, an honor salute and the playing of Taps, ecumenical prayers and a medley of patriotic songs by The Pelham Larks. It will be followed by a reception in the Pelham Town House.

The Memorial, which was dedicated in 2007, was built to honor Michael Boccardi, Montgomery Hord, Thomas E. Hynes, Joseph Leavey, Robert McLaughlin, Amy O’Doherty, Joseph Shea, Daniel J. Shea, Robert Scandole and Michael Tamuccio. Those are the 10 Pelham community members who lost their lives in the attacks.
