Emails forwarded from the personal account of Pelham Manor Police Chief Alfred Mosiello contained disparaging jokes and remarks about African-Americans, Hispanics and women, according to a report by The Journal News.
The jokes centered on welfare, work and jail, among other things, and following an investigation by the village Board of Trustees, Mosiello was disciplined for the emails. His punishment included receiving a pay cut.
Mosiello is back at work, something that does not sit well with Damon Jones, president of Blacks in Law Enforcement of America in Westchester, Rockland and Putnam.
“If they’re not going to fire him then he should be demoted,” Jones, a county corrections officer, told The Journal News. “He should not be in a position where he is in charge of policies and procedures.”
