Pelham School Board to Discuss Elementary Schools Reconfiguration Plan Tonight

The public portion of tonight's school board meeting begins at 8 p.m.

 

The Pelham school board will continue discussing during tonight’s school board meeting inside the .

The proposal, which school officials said will save the district $1.1 million during the 2012-2013 school year, is being reviewed as administrators try to cut roughly $1.8 million in order to comply with the state’s 2 percent property tax cap.

Students are currently assigned to the district’s four elementary schools based on the neighborhoods they live in.

The district’s proposal would house K-2 students in Colonial and Siwanoy elementary schools and house students in grades 3-5 in Hutchinson and Prospect Hill.

The school board will begin tonight’s meeting in executive session at 7 p.m. The public portion of the meeting will start at 8 p.m.
