Pelham School Budget Plan Expands Foreign Language Initiative

PELHAM, NY — Voters in the Pelham school district will be going to the polls May 21 to have their say on the budget for the 2019-20 school year.

The proposed spending package is $74,930,000, up 1.74% from the current year. The tax levy increase is 3.17%, under the property tax cap.

Highlights include: expansion of Spanish language instruction to fifth graders district-wide, completing the phase-in of the Foreign Language Elementary School (FLES) program; unified basketball and girls’ ice hockey as new athletic offerings; and increasing dual enrollment, AP, and elective courses at Pelham Memorial High School.

Polls will be open from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. in the PMHS Main Gym.
