Pelham Schools Announce Athletes of the Week

From Pelham Public Schools: Seniors Dan Dempsey, Ben Hurd and Gibson Smith, juniors Lorenzo Bertuccioli and Stefan Miklakos and sophomore Claudia Dodge were named PMHS Athletes of the Week.

Dempsey, Bertuccioli and Dodge had outstanding performances at the winter track team’s meet on Dec. 11. Dempsey won the boys’ high jump, leaping 6’1” while Bertuccioli placed fourth in the long jump at 19’, 5.5” and third in the triple jump with 37’ 10”. Dodge came in 3rd in the 600 meter run.

Hurd, Smith and Miklakos helped the varsity hockey team to two wins over McQuaid Jesuit and Ithaca in the New York State Great 8 plus 1 tournament. Hurd, a captain, scored five goals while Smith, also a captain, scored twice and had three assists. Miklakos added four assists for the Pelicans.
