Pelham Student Named National Merit Scholarship Winner

Seven Hudson Valley residents were among the last-named recipients of Merit scholarships for 2019.

PELHAM, NY — The National Merit Scholarship Corporation announced over 540 additional winners of National Merit Scholarships financed by colleges and universities. A Pelham resident is among them.

Officials of each sponsor college selected their scholarship winners from among the Finalists in the National Merit Scholarship Program who will attend their institution. College-sponsored awards provide between $500 and $2,000 annually for up to four years of undergraduate study at the institution financing the scholarship.

In April, more than 1,000 recipients of the corporate-sponsored Merit Scholarship were named including 11 from the Hudson Valley. May's announcement was the second group of winners to be announced. In June, 27 were named in the first round of college-based scholarships.
