PMHS Athletes Of The Week

Eight students have been recognized by Pelham School District.

From Pelham School District: Seniors Sarah Guido and Luca Grammatica, juniors Lucy Conway, Peyton Rees, Nick Lapponese and Kevin Coleman, and freshmen Ali Milanese and Jenna Lavan who were named PMHS Athletes of the Week.

Guido and Milanese both starred for the softball team, with Guido pitching 5 shutout innings in the team’s season-opening 17-0 win over Peekskill and notching the game-winning double in the 8th inning against Rye, and Milanese hitting a 2-run homer in her first varsity game.

Playing for the varsity baseball team, Grammatica had a .500 batting average in games against Nyack and Rye and Coleman has also been hot at the plate, with 5 hits in 12 plate appearances, including a home run.

Lapponese had a strong game for the rugby team, scoring 3 tries and having many long runs and tackles in the team’s 56-6 win over New Rochelle.

Lavan and Conway each had strong performances for the girls’ lacrosse team, with Conway scoring her 100th career goal and Lavan playing extremely well.

Rees, competing for the track & field team, won both the discus and shot put in the team’s meet against Rye. In her first career discus competition, she had a throw of 83’.
