PMHS Forensic Speech Team Places In Speech Tournaments

Henry Driesen, Alexandria Tiso, Ben Glickman are all state championship qualifiers as the team placed 7th and 10th the past two weekends.

From PMHS Schools: The PMHS Forensics Speech Team notched strong performances each of the past two weekends.

On Jan. 7, the team competed at the annual Chaminade High School Speech Tournament on Long Island against more than 500 students from New Jersey, Brooklyn, Queens, Manhattan, Staten Island, the Bronx, Westchester and Long Island.

Sophomore Violet Massie-Vereker won 7th place in Declamation and sophomore Athena Woodfin placed 9th in Junior Varsity Oral Interpretation. Both these speakers are now fully qualified for the State Tournament.

During the weekend of Jan. 14-15 the team placed 10 th overall at the Rippon Memorial Tournament held at Regis High School and Loyola School in Manhattan.

Sophomore Henry Driesen joined the list of teammates who have qualified for the state championships by taking 3rd place in JV Extemporaneous Speaking.

Senior Alexandria Tiso and sophomore Ben Glickman have also qualified for the state championships at earlier competitions.
