Police: Confrontation Leads to Pelham Manor Cop Being Shot Yonkers Police
The Pelham Manor officer was off-duty at the time.

Off-duty Pelham Manor Police Officer Kenneth Campion, 47, was shot in the arm and chest by a Yonkers police officer Thursday night during a confrontation in Redmond Park, according to police.
News 12 Westchester reports that Campion is being treated for his injuries and is expected to survive.
The circumstances surrounding the shooting are being investigated, but officers approached Campion, who was armed, in the park and told him to drop his weapon which he declined to do, according to News 12. Yonkers police had been called to the park on a report that a man was acting suspiciously and may have been suicidal.

According to The Journal News’ Jon Bandler and Thane Grauel, Yonkers Police Officer Remy Susini “fired a single shot that grazed Campion’s chest and struck his arm.” Campion was sitting in the park’s baseball diamond at about 9:30 p.m. when he was discovered.
“He did not adhere to several commands...(and) made a movement that led them to believe they were in great danger,” Police Commissioner Charles Gardner told The Journal News.
