Rainy, Cool Weekend: Pelham's Weather

PELHAM, NY — Keep the umbrella handy for the weekend. It’s likely you will need it. There’s a chance of rain and sleet during the morning Friday in southern Westchester and a chance for spotty light freezing rain or drizzle for Orange, Putnam, Rockland and northern Westchester counties through the early afternoon Friday.

Rain is again in the forecast for Saturday and Sunday as well, but temps will stay above freezing.

“So while the weekend won’t feature a total washout… there will be multiple periods of rain to contend with,” Hudson Valley Weather said. “At least we’re not in a drought situation.”

Here is the forecast from the National Weather Service for southern Westchester County.

• Today: A chance of rain and sleet before 11am, then rain. Patchy fog after 2pm. High near 40. Wind chill values between 30 and 35. East wind 7 to 9 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80%. Little or no sleet accumulation expected.
• Tonight: Rain likely, mainly before midnight. Patchy fog before 4am. Otherwise, cloudy, with a temperature rising to around 42 by 1am. Light and variable wind becoming west around 6 mph after midnight. Chance of precipitation is 60%. New precipitation amounts of less than a tenth of an inch possible.
• Saturday: A 30 percent chance of rain, mainly after 4pm. Cloudy, with a high near 54. West wind around 6 mph becoming north in the afternoon.
• Saturday Night: Rain, mainly after 7pm. Low around 37. Calm wind becoming east 5 to 9 mph in the evening. Chance of precipitation is 90%. New precipitation amounts between a quarter and half of an inch possible.
• Sunday: Rain, mainly before 3pm. High near 46. East wind 5 to 10 mph becoming light northeast in the afternoon. Chance of precipitation is 90%. New precipitation amounts between a half and three quarters of an inch possible.
• Sunday Night: A 30 percent chance of showers before 7pm. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 37.
