Sandy 1, Halloween 0: Trick-or-Treat Postponed to Saturday

If it weren't for Hurricane Sandy, the children of Pelham would be parading in their costumes and enjoying the great kick-off of holiday season that is Halloween.

But the Pelham School District has just released a statement closing school for the rest of the week and asking parents to hold off on trick-or-treating until the weekend:

Due to power outages, inoperable traffic and street lights, downed wires and debris on sidewalks, Halloween trick or treating is canceled for today October 31^st. It is strongly recommended that trick or treating take place on Saturday November 3^rd as early as possible and be completed by 7pm. 

Alas, Hurricane Sandy with blustering winds has managed to blow over all the plans for trick-or-treating, apple bobbing, parading and Haunted House visiting.
