COLONIAL GYM — On Dec. 12, the fourth and fifth grade music programs performed the holiday concert. The fifth graders performed in the chorus, orchestra and band, while the fourth graders performed in orchestra and chorus.

The whole concert had a big variety of music played. There were solos such as in the song “Rockin’ Jingle Bells” for band, traditional songs such as “Winter Wonderland” for chorus and dramatic songs such as “Dragonhunter.”

Mr. Madison Martineau conducted the band in three songs, “Sleigh Ride,” “Simple Gifts” and “Rockin’ Jingle Bells.” In one of the songs, there was a drum solo between a bass and snare drummer (Thomas Shelton and this reporter).

Ms. Marcia Bean conducted the orchestra in the three songs “Dragonhunter,” “Old Joe Clark” and “Pachelbel Canon.” These songs contained three soloists on the cello, viola and violin—Amelia Resnick, Maya Spunberg and Tisya Sharma.

The fourth and fifth grade choruses were conducted by Mr. Rami Vamos and Mrs. Pamela Brinkman, respectively. In fourth grade, the students sang “A Song’s a Soul” and “That’s Christmas for You.” The fifth graders performed “Winter Wonderland,” “Holly and Ivy and Evergreen” and “Giddy Up!”

The two grades then joined together to sing “Minka” accompanied by the orchestra.
