Snow, Ice Storm Coming: Pelham's Work Week Weather

After frigid temps and possible snow showers Monday, we're in for "a wintry mess" midweek that could accumulate to 6 inches.

PELHAM, NY — Monday's plunge into sub-freezing temps isn't expected to last; but, as temps swing back to February normal, a big midweek storm is expected to bring 3 to 6 inches of snow to the Hudson Valley. Plus, or maybe instead, part of the region could be hit with an ice storm. And more snow is possible at the end of the week.

“A wintry mess is likely to bring hazardous travel from the central Plains through the Ohio Valley into the Northeast Tuesday and Wednesday,” AccuWeather Meteorologist Jake Sojda said.

The storm models have been changing over the past two days, Hudson Valley Weather said, predicting 3 to 6 inches of snow could fall on the region. "When this storm first popped up on our radar, it looked like a warm storm, with rain… but ... as things stand right now, we may have a rather substantial snowstorm on our hands."

As the storm will bring a mixture of snow, sleet and freezing rain across the Northeast, the Hudson Valley could be part of a narrow corridor extending from the Ohio River Valley into southeastern New England hit with an extended period of ice, according to AccuWeather meteorologist Renee Duff. Sporadic tree damage and power outages are possible.

However, meteorologists point out, it's still early. A change in the storm’s track by a few miles to the north or south will shift the narrow icy zone and corridor of heaviest snow, Duff said.

The entire region can expect travel to be messy.
