Warm Nights: Pelham's Weekend Weather

PELHAM, NY — More rain is coming to the Hudson Valley over the weekend — thankfully not heavy rain, the kind forecast for much of the Mid-Atlantic. But what's going to make us uncomfortable will be the hot, muggy nights.

"Locations from the southern plains to the Ohio Valley and the eastern states will be quite warm and muggy, with well above normal temperatures on both Friday and Saturday," said the National Weather Service. "The big story with this warmth however will be the very warm overnight temperatures."

As for the precipitation expected:

"A rather sharp northern edge to the rain may develop somewhere from southern New York state and the northern parts of Pennsylvania and New Jersey during Saturday night and Sunday," said Alex Sosnowski, AccuWeather senior meteorologist. "People waiting for a long string of days with sunshine, warmth and low humidity will likely have to wait a while longer in the Northeast."

Here's the NWS weekend forecast for southern Westchester:

• Friday: A 50 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms. Partly sunny, with a high near 80. Light southeast wind.
• Tonight: A 30 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms. Areas of fog after 7pm. Otherwise, mostly cloudy, with a low around 68. Light and variable wind.
• Saturday: A chance of showers and thunderstorms, then showers likely after 9am. Patchy fog before 9am. Otherwise, cloudy, with a high near 79. North wind 5 to 8 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60%. New precipitation amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.
• Saturday Night: A 40 percent chance of showers before 3am. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 59. East wind around 8 mph.
• Sunday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 70. East wind around 9 mph.
• Sunday Night: A 30 percent chance of showers after 3am. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 51.
