Weather Alert: 'Special Weather Statement' Issued for Gusty Winds, Possible Hail

A line of showers and possible thunderstorms is heading toward the lower Hudson Valley.

The National Weather Service Wednesday issued a Special Weather Statement alerting residents of the lower Hudson Valley that strong, gusty winds and possible thunderstorms with pea-sized hail were headed toward the area.

New Rochelle, White Plains, Port Chester and Ossining were among the communities in New York, New Jersey and Connecticut that could be impacted by the storms.

Winds could reach or exceed 40 miles per hour in gusts and rain could quickly soak the region through 4:30 p.m., according to the NWS.

“These storms may intensify... so be certain to monitor local radio and TV stations... as well as local cable TV outlets,” warned the NWS.
