Westchester Part of State's Private Sector Jobs Surge in June

In June 2015, New York State’s private-sector job count climbed by 24,200, or 0.3 percent, to 7,804,200, a new record high, according to preliminary figures released today by the New York State Department of Labor.
The Orange-Rockland-Westchester county area grew even faster, by 1.4 percent, adding 8,200 private-sector jobs in June.

And good news for the whole region: in the past year, private sector jobs grew most rapidly in New York City, by 3.1 percent.
However, the Putnam-Dutchess county area continued to shed private-sector jobs, losing 400 for a decline of 0.3 percent.

Over the past two months, the state has added 67,800 private sector jobs. This is New York’s largest two-month jobs gain since February 1999.
“New York State’s labor market continues to exhibit strength,” said Bohdan M. Wynnyk, Deputy Director of the Division of Research and Statistics.
The five-county area lost 700 public sector jobs.
