Between August and September 2015, the State’s seasonally adjusted unemployment rate decreased from 5.2 percent to 5.1 percent, its lowest level since April 2008.
Unemployment rate highlights in September 2015:
- The counties in New York State with the lowest unemployment rates include:
- Columbia County (3.7%)
- Hamilton County (3.9%)
- Tompkins County (3.9%)
- Saratoga County (4.1%)
- New York County (4.2%)
- Queens County (4.2%)
- Nassau County (4.3%)
- Yates County (4.3%)
- Albany County (4.4%)
- Genesee County (4.4%)
- Ontario County (4.4%)
- Putnam County (4.4%)
While Rockland County is not on that list, with an unemployment rate of 4.6 percent in September 2015, it was lower than Orange and Westchester counties, which both posted rates of 4.7 percent.
