Pelham Manor resident Christopher Pryor was awarded a master of science degree in Financial Mathematics from Worcester Polytechnic Institute (WPI) on May 11th at the school's 145th commencement.
At the commencement, which took place outdoors on the WPI quadrangle, keynote speaker was Eric S. Lander, president and founding director of The Broad Institute of MIT and Harvard.
According to a WPI release, Lander said that graduates face a number of challenges, including economic stress, a looming crisis in healthcare costs for an aging population, climate change concerns, and political upheaval but that he remained optimistic due to the graduates' ability to both dream and act – to combine theory and practice.
WPI was founded in 1865 in Worcester, MA, and is one of the nation's oldest engineering and technology universities.
