BETHPAGE, NY — A 21-year-old Farmingdale man died after he was struck by a LIRR train on Monday evening, MTA police said.

At about 7:34 p.m. on April 20, Cameron William Zappolo was at the Merritts Road crossing east of the Bethpage station when the Long Island Rail Road train 1976 hit him, MTA police said.

There were no injuries to the train crew or passengers, MTAPD said.

According to MTAPD, Zappolo was not authorized to be on the tracks at the time. After a preliminary investigation, which also included video review and witness statements, it was determined that no criminality was suspected — though the investigation is ongoing, MTAPD said.

The eastbound train was scheduled to service from Penn Station to Ronkonkoma, MTAPD said.
