Join the Mid Island Y JCC's YOU GOT THIS Accountability Program, a four-week program designed to help participants build healthy habits, stay motivated, and maintain accountability in both fitness and nutrition.
Led by Joy Kubelka, the program provides daily goals, nutrition guidance, fitness tracking, and ongoing support through a convenient fitness app. Participants will receive tools and encouragement to help create lasting lifestyle changes and stay focused on their personal wellness goals.
The program runs from July 6 through August 2, 2026.
An upgraded Accountability Program Plus option is also available and includes four personal training sessions in addition to the accountability program.

Interested in learning a new skill while meeting new people? Join the Mid Island Y JCC's Beginner Crochet Summer Series and discover the art of crochet in a fun, welcoming environment.
Led by Mary Capone, a former library crochet instructor with a background in Art and Design, this six-week beginner course will teach participants the fundamentals of crochet, starting with basic stitches and progressing to simple projects such as potholders and coasters. No prior experience is necessary.
In addition to learning a new craft, participants will enjoy an opportunity to relax, socialize, and connect with fellow learners.
Mondays, July 6 through August 10, 2026 10:00–11:15 a.m.

Discover the art of stained glass in this hands-on evening workshop series at the Mid Island Y JCC. Led by instructor Kelly Schulte-Smith, participants will learn the techniques of stained-glass creation, including design, glass cutting, grinding, copper foiling, and soldering.
Over the course of eight sessions, each participant will create their own beautiful pair of butterfly-themed stained glass bookends while developing new artistic skills in a supportive environment. All supplies are included with registration, with the exception of the required $14 bookend add-on purchase.
This class is designed for adults ages 18 and older. Attendance at all eight sessions is required to complete the project.

Adult children caring for aging parents are invited to join Mid Island Y JCC for an evening of support, connection, and practical guidance.
As part of the Caring for Our Aging Parents series, this program will focus on communicating effectively with healthcare professionals and navigating complex medical decisions on behalf of aging loved ones. Lori Hardoon, LCSW, and Maria Lever, LCSW, of Guiding Hearts Helping Hands will share strategies for working with healthcare providers while ensuring that a loved one's values, goals, and wishes remain at the center of their care.
The evening begins with "Whine" and Cheese, an opportunity to connect with fellow caregivers over light refreshments, followed by the presentation and a closing Cookies and Conversation session for continued discussion and support.

Girl Scouts Robotics Classes Program

When I first started to teach robotics to elementary school students, I noticed that they were not sure of their abilities and were not comfortable when it came to STEM education. I decided to organize and teach robotics classes to these students to make STEM education accessible to everyone. From the beginning, the program emphasized interactive and hands-on activities rather than traditional teaching methods. I worked with about 15 participants over a period of weeks, helping them design and program simple robots. This allowed them to explore engineering concepts in a creative and engaging way. One of the most rewarding aspects was seeing their confidence grow. At first, they were unsure of their capabilities to learn the material, especially since they had no prior knowledge of it. Yet, as they worked on projects and overcame obstacles, they began taking ownership of their work, working together with others, and taking pride in what they had accomplished. This was not without its own set of challenges, however. It demanded a high level of organization to ensure that robot kits, materials, and schedules were managed effectively. In addition, there was a need to ensure that the content was accessible to a variety of experience levels. Through this process, I was able to develop leadership skills such as communication, flexibility, and mentoring. Working with mentors and administrators at Bethpage High School Robotics helped create a plan for the program’s sustainability. This experience showed me the power of hands-on learning and inspired me to continue creating opportunities for younger students to explore STEM and develop a passion for innovation.

We’re Dragonfly Cares, a group of providers offering Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) and Speech-Language Therapy across Long Island. Our goal is to support children as well as the caregivers around them, while emphasizing community engagement and transparency. Our goal from the start has been to create a supportive network and uplifting environment for the families and therapists we work with. No more one-size fits all models, we provide more and always will. Each group is led by a BCBA and includes 1:1 support from a trained behavior technician. Groups are thoughtfully formed based on each child’s individual needs and skill sets.
