Conservative Action Society Holds Lively Meeting at Library

The Long Island chapter of the political group met this week and outlined its plan of action.

The Conservative Society for Action met at this week for it's first meeting of 2011 and outlined a call for action for its members.

CSA Director Stephen Flanagan set out a strident agenda for the group: "Our number one goal last year was to take back the New York State Senate,"  Flanagan said to applause, as the Republicans reclaimed the majority in the 2010 state elections. Flanagan said one of the group's goals for 2011 is to work to vote the presiding officer of the Suffolk County Legislature, William J. Lindsay, out of office.

Other speakers included Tom Croci, district director for Republican State Senator Lee Zeldin and Nassau County Legislator Fran Becker.  A video was shown from CSA's Albany trip to attend the swearing in of New York State senators, including Zeldin.

"Know that you have good conservatives in Albany who are cutting taxes and spending," said Croci.

Legislature Becker spoke about his concerns for the upcoming year.  "I'm scared to death of 2012," said Becker.

Becker and a society member engaged in a heated exchange over their positions and others joined in.

"We have to mass-market our message, and be direct about it," Flanagan said. "We are talking about maintaining our quality of life."
