"Long Island Reads,”a project of the Nassau Library System and The Public Libraries of Suffolk County, creates a shared literary experience by inviting all Long Islanders to read the same book and participate in discussions and related events. An author appearance featuring Colson Whitehead, author of this year's uplifting and humorous selection,"Sag Harbor" is scheduled for April 14, at 7:30 at the Plainview-Old Bethpage Public Library. The community is invited to attend to gain insight into his literary work about an African American prep student vacationing at his family's home in Sag Harbor's Azurest community during the 1980s.
Copies of the book will be available for sale and author signing. Seating is first-come, first-served. The event is sponsored by Astoria Federal Savings.
