Family Of 5 Displaced During Blizzard After Plainview House Fire: NCFM
Fire marshals say two adults and three children self-evacuated their home during a fire on Monday afternoon.

PLAINVIEW, NY — A family of five has been displaced due to a house fire in Plainview on Monday afternoon, fire marshals said.
There is serious damage to the Morton Blvd. house, and two adults and three children self-evacuated, fire marshals said.
The Nassau County Fire Marshal's Office said Nassau County Firecom received a 911 call reporting a chimney/fireplace fire at 12:03 p.m. on Monday, and the Plainview Fire Department responded to the alert.

Fire marshals said that having the fire hydrant already clear helped save time during firefighting operations.
"[The] fire hydrant was not obstructed by snow, and was ironically dug out earlier in the day by a Plainview FD volunteer firefighter who lives on the block," fire marshals said.

No injuries were reported – the fire was brought under control within 45 minutes with 60 firefighters on scene, fire marshals said.
NCFM Investigators were on scene along with NCPD Arson/Bomb detectives, and the Town of Oyster Bay Building Department was on scene evaluating the damage, fire marshals said. According to fire marshals, the cause of the fire is under investigation, but is not considered suspicious.
Firefighting operations were under the command of Chief Andrew Cohen, with mutual aid assistance from fire departments with Bethpage, Syosset, Hicksville, Jericho, Melville, and Westbury, fire marshals said.
