Family weekend planner

We’ve come up with ideas to help you get out and enjoy the first fall weekend.

1.       Long Island Fair

Where/When: Old Bethpage Village Restoration, 1303 Round Swamp Rd., Old Bethpage, 516-572-8400, lifair.org. Friday, Saturday and Sunday @ 10 a.m.-5 p.m.

Why Go:  See prize winning vegetables, flower and craft displays, farm animals, hear music. Also children’s games, rides, and entertainment including puppet  and magic shows and food.

Pricing: $8 for children 5-12 (under 5, free), seniors and volunteer firefighters. Adults are $12 on Friday and $15 on Saturday and Sunday.

2.       Pets 2 Love: Pet Adoption Festival and Benefit

Where/When: Manetto Hill Animal Hospital, 122 Manetto Hill Rd., Plainview, 516-942-8387, manettohillanimalhospital.com., Sunday September 25 @ 11 a.m.- 3 p.m.

Why Go: Pets for adoption with live music, vendors, children’s activities, food, silent auction and more.

Pricing: Free

3.       Legends of the Autobahn Concours d’ Elegance

Where/When: Old Westbury Gardens, 71 Old Westbury Rd., Old Westbury, 631-864-2472, metronypca.org, Sunday Sept. 25 @ 9 a.m.-3 p.m.

Why Go: See mid 1950’s to current model Porsche, Mercedes-Benz and BMW vehicles on display

Pricing: $10, $8 for seniors

4.       Locust Valley Oktoberfest

Where/When: Thomas Park,  92 Forest Ave., Locust Valley, 516-759-5319, www.Lvrotary.com. Friday Sept. 23 @ 6-10 p.m. and Saturday Sept. 24 @ 1-8 p.m.

Why Go: German festival with music, German food, beer and German dancers. Friday is for adults and Saturday is family day.

Pricing: $5 which covers both days

5.       Feng Shui Lecture and Book Signing

Where/When: Planting Fields Arboretum State Historic Park, 1395 Planting Fields Rd., Oyster Bay, 516-621-9898, Sunday, Sept. 25 @ noon- 2 p.m.

Why Go: R.D. Chin, author of “Feng Shui revealed”, will lecture and sign book, meet the faculty of Long Island Feng Shui Institute, refreshments, register.

Pricing: Free with park admission.
