Plainview, N.Y. - The Plainview-Old Bethpage John F. Kennedy High School Distributive Education Clubs of America (DECA) recently hosted its annual installation ceremony. The 2019-2020 chapter welcomed 74 new first-year members and 86 sophomores, juniors, and seniors who met the conditions for membership.

Along with the new members, DECA welcomed Alumni Samantha Valenza ’13 and Legislator Arnold Drucker to speak to the chapter. Ms. Valenza, a graduate of the University of Rhode Island, spoke to new and current members about what DECA has done for her, how it has helped her in the business world and how it will assist future members in their professional careers. Legislator Arnold Drucker also spoke to the chapter about the importance of DECA and the positive impact it could have on their lives.

DECA is an international association of business students who participate in community service events, as well as business competitions at regional, state and international levels. The High School Division includes 200,000 members in 3,500 schools. The DECA installation was a huge success due to the help of all student members, officers, and advisors Mr. Ambury, Ms. DeLucca, and Ms. Tortoso as well as the support of Principal James Murray.
