Michael Magro Foundation's 10th Annual "Evening of Tasting and Giving" at The Carltun this October

The Michael Magro Foundation's largest fundraiser of the year, "An Evening of Tasting and Giving" is coming October 6 - be sure to attend!

The Michael Magro Foundation will be hosting their tenth annual “An Evening of Tasting and Giving” on October 6, 2014 at 6:30 pm. The event, which will be held at The Carltun in East Meadow, will feature over 20 of some of Long Island’s best restaurants, with the appearance of five bakeries, wineries and breweries. There will be a gelato station, as well as two martini bars, so bring your appetite!

The event, which will be held to assist children with cancer and their families to meet the financial burdens of the disease, has been the foundation’s largest fundraiser to date. With more than 400 members of the business and philanthropic communities of Long Island in attendance, it is certain to surpass last year’s efforts, which totaled more than $70,000. The event features tastings and samplings at the tables of said merchants, along with raffles of some fine baskets. Live auctions, as well as a silent auction or two, will also be part of the evening’s events.

This year’s event will honor the Siena Wealth Advisory Group of Melville. The group is a private wealth advisory practice of Ameriprise Financial Services Inc., and has shown great support for the foundation since its inception. Joseph De Sena, CFP, MBA, who is president and private wealth advisor of the group, is a founding board member of the Michael Magro Foundation since its inception in 2005. Katie Coleman CFP is also a board member of the foundation. Together, the pair has run over five marathons and raised over $50,000 for the foundation.

The Michael Magro Foundation is a 501 (c) 3 nonprofit organization that benefits and assists children with cancer and their families to meet the financial burdens of the disease. The foundation has further expanded to include children with life threatening diseases, as well as chronic illnesses. It was started in January 2005 by Terrie and Paul Magro, parents of Michael Magro. Michael was a 13 year old young man who was diagnosed with leukemia and passed away within months of his diagnosis. However, what made Michael unique was his strength, tenacity and courage to face the disease and fight on in the face of adversity.

Tickets for the event are $75 per person, and all the proceeds are donated to the Michael Magro Foundation.
