NWS Issues Travel Advisory For Nassau County
Officials urge residents to stay home until emergency is lifted.

The National Weather Service has extended the Blizzard Warning for Long Island until noon Monday and is warning of dangerous conditions on Nassau County roadways.
Blowing and drifting snow has caused numerous vehicles to become inoperable and abandoned on roads and ramps, impeding plowing efforts. The conditions can also delay emergency response operations.
"It is stronly advised that only essential personnel venture out on the roadways at this time. This would include police, fire, medical, utility and road maintenance crews," according to the NWS.

Pedestrians, dressed for the cold, may have limited visibility and many are walking in the roadways, the NWS warned.
''If you do not need to travel, please remain off the roads until they are cleared," the NWS statement said.
