Oyster Bay Historical Society to Honor Contributors

Several Long Islanders will be honored Tuesday night by the Oyster Bay Historical Society.

This is a first-ever annual awards program to honor individuals across Long Island who have demonstrated an outstanding commitment to historical preservation and education.

The ceremony is scheduled for Tuesday from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at The Woodlands in Woodbury.

Among the honorees is Jim Foote, who portrays Theodore Roosevelt at Sagamore Hill and other functions around Oyster Bay and beyond. Another is Kerriann Flanagan Brosky, an author, historian and investigator of ghosts who blogs on Patch.

Also included is Thomas Abbe, who is being recognized for his efforts to save the Maine Maid Inn at Jericho Corners.
