Plainview-Old Bethpage Chamber of Commerce to Unveil New 9/11 Commemorative Sculpture
The sculpture will be unveiled during a ceremony this weekend.

The Plainview-Old Bethpage Chamber of Commerce will be hosting a special tribute marking the 15th anniversary of 9/11 this weekend.
This Sunday, September 11 a new moving sculpture recently built in honor to those who lost their lives in the terrorist attack will be formally presented to the Plainview-Old Bethpage community.
The ceremony will begin at 4:30 p.m., rain or shine, at the Alma Craib Garden at the Plainview-Old Bethapge Library on 999 Old Country Road.

Long Island artist David Haussler built the 10-foot outdoor sculpture, which incorporates a piece of steel from the World Trade Center site given to the Chamber many years ago.
It will feature some colorful and movable parts, suggesting that life moves forward after tragedy.

In the planning for almost a year, Chamber of Chamber past president and current board member Francesca Carlow is leading the committee of dedicated members who have worked to bring this project to fruition.
"Members of our community immediately embraced the profound meaning and the creative process behind this unique project," Chamber president Elan Wurtzel said. "Our thanks go out to all. Many view it as a momentous addition to the towns of Plainview-Old Bethpage -- myself included."
