Plainview-Old Bethpage Student Named Junior Science and Humanities Symposium Regional Finalist in National Competition
Student Receives National Recognition For Science Research Project

Jordyn Schor, a Plainview-Old Bethpage School District’s John F. Kennedy High School student, was recently named a 2016 Long Island Junior Science and Humanities Symposia (JSHS) Regional Finalist. The purpose of the JSHS is to challenge and engage high school students in science, technology, engineering or mathematics (STEM.) The symposia works with the research division of the Department of Defense and is administered nationwide.
Jordyn participated in the semi-finalist round of the symposium where she earned 1st place honors in the Behavioral and Social Science Research Category for her project entitled, “Using Golden Ratio Typography to Increase Cognitive Fluency in Nystagmus Patients.” Schor was then selected as a regional finalist and invited back to present her work where a final delegation of five student researchers will be chosen to represent the Long Island region at a U.S. Army, Navy and Air Force sponsored 54th National Junior Science & Humanities Symposium.
