Plainview-Old Bethpage Students Attend Long Island Best Buddies Friendship Ball
Event brings together several chapters of Best Buddies Clubs from multiple schools throughout Long Island

The Plainview-Old Bethpage Central School District’s John F. Kennedy High School Best Buddies club recently attended the annual Long Island Best Buddies Friendship Ball held at Levittown Hall. The event was intended bring together several chapters of Best Buddies Clubs from multiple schools throughout Long Island to celebrate inclusion and support people with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
More than 50 students from John F. Kennedy High School dressed up and danced at the prom-like event alongside students from schools throughout Nassau and Suffolk Counties. This year’s Friendship Ball followed a “tropical paradise” theme, where students were dressed in leis and the room was decorated with flowers and palm trees.
Best Buddies is an international nonprofit organization dedicated to establishing a global volunteer movement that creates opportunities for one-to-one friendships, integrated employment and leadership development for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
