Due to overcoming hearing loss, Lieberman has been able to reach his personal and professional goals. Many people in the community may even recognize him as a business teacher at Plainview-Old Bethpage John F. Kennedy High School.

Lieberman and his daughter were celebrated by the HearStrong Foundation for his hearing loss accomplishment during a ceremony in Somerset, NJ, on Friday, May 1. They were recognized for empowering others to choose to hear better.

“By continuing his work to inspire his daughter and members of his community to understand that choosing to hear better is a strength, he will truly help change lives,” said Ed Keller, founder and president of the HearStrong Foundation, in a press release.

Lieberman is currently one of the top fundraisers for the New York City chapter of the Hearing Loss Association of America.

“Scott is a wonderful example of the powerful impact one person can have toward shattering the stigmas of hearing loss in our society,” Keller said.

The HearStrong Foundation looks to break the stigma around hearing loss, to honor those who have overcome hearing loss and to inspire others to do the same.
