Plainview Water District Advises Residents to Exercise Caution While Driving in Work Zones
Plainview Water District crews will be on the road making emergency repairs which will expose them to the dangers of working in traffic

Plainview, NY (November 9, 2015) – It’s that time of year when emergency water main breaks occur and repairs disrupt the normal flow of traffic on our roadways. The Plainview Water District Board of Commissioners Joel R. Kessler, Andrew N. Bader and Marc B. Laykind remind parents and residents to proceed with extreme caution while driving through work zone areas. Throughout the fall and winter months, Plainview Water District crews will be on the road making emergency repairs which will expose them to the dangers of working in traffic.
“The District will continue with repairs through the fall and winter months with minimal disruption to Plainview-Old Bethpage residents,” said Commissioner Andrew N. Bader. “We understand our work zones may create an inconvenience but assure the community our efforts are necessary to maintain the Districts infrastructure.”
Plainview Water District employees undertake the appropriate safety precautions to safeguard the construction zone, but drivers need to exercise caution as well, particularly with potentially hazardous driving conditions as a result of winter weather in the coming months. Changes in traffic patterns, closed or narrowed lanes, closed sidewalks, and the presence of construction and personnel can all be encountered during emergency repair.

“Our crews need to be out in the streets working to ensure the community is provided with clean, safe water that meets and/or exceeds all regulations,” added Commissioner Marc B. Laykind. “We want to remind residents to stay alert and proceed with caution when they see work crews on the roads, especially when the roads may ice or be covered in snow during the winter months.”
